Diversity, equity, and inclusion funding

Three state lawmakers have requested information from the USG in the last few years concerning the role of race in classrooms and student activities.

In 2021 Rep. Emory Dunahoo, R-Gillsville, requested information about courses that may be teaching "what constitutes 'privilege' and 'oppression.'" The USG response from all 26 schools can be read here.

In 2022 Rep. David Knight, R-Griffin, requested information about diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, faculty job ads that mention anti-racism or social justice, and staff dedicated to DEI and other race-based programs. The USG response from all 26 schools can be read here.

In April 2023 Lt. Gov. Burt Jones made a similar request to Rep. Knight.  The USG response can be seen here

Tenure

Colleagues at Georgia Tech have analyzed their school's "tenure density." In this report, they argue a precipitous decline in the "percentage of classes taught by tenure-track faculty” harms students, institutional prestige, and competition for faculty.  They show that "if the trend for the past decade continues without intervention, we estimate that at Georgia Tech, by 2040 Georgia Tech will have only 50% tenured and untenured tenure-track faculty, and by 2080, there will be none at all."

Covid Data

The Georgia AAUP began tracking Covid-19 cases as soon as public and private schools in our state began reporting the cases. Here is our data up to the day each school stopped publicly reporting cases.
