Layoff Surveys
Georgia AAUP Fall 2023 Reduction in Force Survey
In light of ongoing budget cuts, the Georgia AAUP surveyed 17 out of 26 University System of Georgia institutions to request the number of letters of non-renewal (aka reduction in force) it had sent this academic year to tenured faculty or those on the tenure track. [Some schools also submitted number of letters sent to lecturers and instructors.]
The schools were chosen by the Georgia AAUP based on their enrollment declines using Fall 2022 data as found here. If you have confirmation of other cuts, please let us know. Send a note to admin@aaupgeorgia.org
Six schools had sent letters to a total of 24 faculty:
Savannah State said it sent letters to ten (10) tenured professors, one (1) tenure-track professor, and two (2) non-tenure track instructors.
